About TENET

TENET is Christopher Nolan's 2020 action-thriller built around a secret-agent protagonist who learns to manipulate the flow of time to prevent a third world war. Released by Warner Bros. in the middle of the global pandemic, the film's marketing pivoted around its stark, palindromic title — a name that reads the same forward and backward, set in a wordmark whose extra-wide, semibold geometric letterforms reinforce the film's preoccupation with symmetry and reversal.

Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema and composer Ludwig Göransson built the rest of the TENET identity around the same idea of mirrored structure. The wordmark's wide, slab-edged caps work at every scale — from IMAX banners to Twitter thumbnails — and helped the film stand out in a year when audiences mostly saw poster art through phone screens. That broad, monumental display register has since shown up across other Warner Bros. tentpole marketing.

What font does TENET use?

TENET uses Acme Gothic Extrawide Semibold, designed by Mark Simonson (2014). A commercial wide-caps display sans, available from Mark Simonson Studio.

On this page, Lipi offers a generated lookalike of the font used in TENET — ready to download instantly with a commercial license, no third-party purchase required.

Where this style works

Extra-wide condensed-cap display faces excel at film and franchise wordmarks, sports broadcast graphics, architectural signage, luxury automotive branding, fitness and energy-drink identities, and any layout that needs to feel monumental at billboard or theatre-marquee scale. The cramped vertical proportions and wide horizontal stance give a wordmark instant authority — exactly the effect Warner Bros. marketing was after on TENET's release.
