Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to write every letter?

No. Write 10–15 letters naturally on paper and upload a photo. Our AI studies your stroke style, slant, and character shapes, then generates the full character set — every letter, number, and symbol — in the same style. You don't need to write the whole alphabet.

How is this different from Calligraphr?

Calligraphr requires you to print a template, hand-write every single glyph into specific boxes, scan it, and then manually correct each character. That process takes 30+ minutes. With Lipi.ai, you write a few letters naturally, take a photo, and AI generates the full font in under 2 minutes — no templates, no tracing, no manual correction.

What handwriting styles work?

All styles work — neat print, messy scrawl, cursive, semi-cursive, block letters, and everything in between. The AI captures what makes your handwriting unique regardless of how tidy it is. Best results come from good lighting and dark ink on white paper, but even imperfect photos produce usable fonts.

What font file formats do I get?

Every generated font is delivered in TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 formats — ready for desktop applications, websites, and mobile apps. All formats are included with your purchase, along with a unique Font ID and license certificate.

Can I use the font commercially?

Yes, with a license purchase. There are two options: Buy for Use ($4.99) is a non-exclusive commercial license for use in your projects, products, and designs. Full Ownership ($7.99) gives you an exclusive license — we remove the font from our marketplace after your purchase so it's yours alone.

How many credits does a generation use?

Each font generation uses one credit. New accounts receive free credits to get started. When you purchase a font (Buy for Use or Full Ownership), you receive 50 additional credits automatically.

Lipi.ai's Handwriting to Font tool uses AI to turn a photo of your handwriting into a complete, downloadable font. Write naturally on paper, upload a photo, and the AI captures your unique stroke style — the slant, weight, curves, and character spacing — then generates a full character set. The result is a real font file (TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2) that looks like your handwriting and works in any app. No templates, no manual tracing.
