About Super Mario

Super Mario is Nintendo's flagship franchise and one of the most successful in any medium, running from Super Mario Bros. on the Famicom in 1985 through decades of platformers, spin-offs, and a 2023 animated film. Shigeru Miyamoto's design principles — clear silhouettes, immediate feedback, readable at a glance — extend to the logo as much as the level design.

The Super Mario wordmark is chunky cartoon lettering cut from angular faceted blocks, with letters tilted slightly off a straight baseline so the whole line has a bouncing quality. Over the years it has been rendered in chrome, in brick, in gold and in flat colour, but the underlying letterform structure has stayed remarkably consistent — it survives being restyled because the shapes themselves carry the recognition.

What font does Super Mario use?

Super Mario uses The Super Mario logo is proprietary custom lettering owned by Nintendo, not a released typeface. Fan recreations circulate under names like Super Mario 256 and Mario Font; all are approximations of the original artwork.

On this page, Lipi offers a generated lookalike of the font used in Super Mario — ready to download instantly with a commercial license, no third-party purchase required.

Where this style works

Chunky faceted cartoon lettering is built for fun and motion: game titles and level UI, children's party and event graphics, comic and cartoon lettering, arcade and retro-gaming branding, toy packaging, and YouTube thumbnails that need to feel energetic. The per-letter tilt is what creates the bounce — flatten it onto an even baseline and the character disappears.
