About Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon launched in 1979 and became the defining children's television brand of the following decades, home to Rugrats, SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Kids' Choice Awards. Its identity has always been unusually confident for the category — built on a single saturated orange and a wordmark that has been stretched, splattered and poured into almost every shape imaginable.

What holds across all those variations is the lettering itself: extremely heavy, fully rounded, with counters squeezed almost shut by the weight of the strokes. It reads as friendly and a little unruly, which is exactly the register the network built its brand on. The famous orange splat was designed to be reshaped at will, and the type was drawn to survive that treatment — bold enough to stay legible however it gets distorted.

What font does Nickelodeon use?

Nickelodeon uses Nickelodeon's wordmark is custom lettering, not a released typeface. The style is an ultra-heavy rounded display face with bulbous strokes, fully rounded terminals and very tight counters.

On this page, Lipi offers a generated lookalike of the font used in Nickelodeon — ready to download instantly with a commercial license, no third-party purchase required.

Where this style works

Ultra-heavy rounded display faces are built for children's and family work: television and streaming idents, toy and confectionery packaging, party and event graphics, kids' apps and games, playful retail signage, and any layout that wants to feel loud and approachable at once. The rounded terminals keep the extreme weight from reading as aggressive.
